Mid Level Industrial Designer

4+ Years of Post Degree Experience

Primary function of position:

The Mid Level Industrial Designer will help drive and craft new product platforms, helping to shape the future of medical and consumer devices through the lens of a world-class experience. You will be working with teams of designers, engineers and scientists on product concepts that push the envelope and illustrate possibilities. You will employ your comprehensive understanding of design for manufacture, form, aesthetics, and creative functionalism to turn these concepts into beautiful, manufacturable devices that users love.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, management, electrical and software teams while working in a team of designers and engineers to create solutions for a variety of medical and consumer type product clients. This will include:

  • Employing design processes to help frame and define opportunities
  • Actively participating in early stage design research and creating reports
  • Using sketching and other rapid concept communication methods to illustrate multiple concept options to clients
  • Building designed concepts in 3D CAD and creating photorealistic renderings
  • Creating manufacturing CAD data in Solidworks for prototyping and manufacturing purposes
  • Collaborate with systems engineers to develop and refine high quality, cost effective component integration and manufacturing methods
  • Collaborate with all internal and external team members to successfully complete the deliverables for each project in the prescribed timeframe

Qualifications:

  • Biased towards action with high attention to detail
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or related field of study
  • Minimum of 4 years of post-degree experience in industrial design
  • Passion for designing appealing, revolutionary products that make an impact on people’s lives
  • Excited by working on difficult problems with a dedicated team of high energy, high caliber people, as well as working autonomously and multi-tasking in a fast paced environment
  • Fluent with Solidworks, Adobe Creative Suite, and rendering software
  • Ability to demonstrate a remarkably high level of aesthetic sense, supported by an equally high level of rapid visualization abilities
  • Demonstrate a complete understanding of ergonomics, human factors, and user-centered design
  • Ability to create high level prototypes, and manage prototype vendors and processes
  • High level of understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and highly regulated development requirements, such as medical device quality systems
  • Medical device, electro-mechanical and user interface experience a strong plus
